Choosing your professional “Team” is your most important task!
Here’s a few key points to remember:
1. It’s easy to hire a DJ that DOESN’T match with the indoor sound acoustics of the Byron Colby Barn. Any DJ can be loud, but your guests probably aren’t looking for a “club” setup that just blasts sound at them. Most of these DJs are “budget” DJs that charge $600 or less for a reception only.
2. I use a carefully selected sound system for outdoor ceremonies in the courtyard that isn’t just a microphone and speaker in a suitcase on wheels. It makes a huge difference.
3. I’m not just a DJ. I understand that the “people connection” at a wedding is paramount. I have enough key skills and planning background expertise that you may not need to hire a planner. I care about vendor communication and working as a team. I’ve been a music writer and producer for over 20 years and I like to use that talent for your event.
4. It’s easy to hire someone that will overwhelm with lighting that is probably inappropriate for the Byron Colby Barn. Most just don’t get the ambiance of the venue and bring typical DJ lighting that just isn’t a good fit. I lean heavily toward classy and elegant lighting solutions.
